History

In May 2010, Katelyn Rushton and Valerie Foulem met in the Forest Hill Cafeteria during a St Thomas University open house event. That September,at the start of their university careers, they discovered they would be neighbours in STU's Vanier Hall residence. By the end of the first week, they had become friends with Elizabeth Strange- also a resident of Vanier Hall.

By the end of their first year, the three friends -all very different but sharing common values and ideas of what sisterhood should be- decided they wanted to create a supportive environment where the strong, intelligent, and kind women of St. Thomas University could reach their goals and make a difference in their community. And with that, the idea to create the first sorority at founded for St. Thomas students was formed.

On October 18th 2011, the Founding Mothers met in Elizabeth's room in Vanier Hall. It was during this meeting that our letters, values, and our Patron were selected. Over the next few months the Founders worked to create many of our founding documents. We were ratified by the St. Thomas University Student's Union in November 2012.

Since those early days, Pi Alpha Gamma has grown to over 30 sisters, accepts students from both St Thomas University and the University of New Brunswick, and has Alumnae across Canada and the UK.
