Our Policies

We want all of our organization's members to be happy, healthy and safe during their collegiate membership of Pi Alpha Gamma. These policies are put in place to ensure the integrity of the organization and the safety and comfort of all who participate in Sorority activities.  Members of Pi Alpha Gamma Sorority are constitutionally bound to adhere to these policies and the policies of St. Thomas University Student's Union at all times.

Anti-Hazing

Pi Alpha Gamma Sorority has a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in regards to hazing.  All Active Members of Pi Alpha Gamma Sorority are required to attend an Anti-Hazing and Alcohol Awareness Program given each year by our organization. Our recruitment activities and New Member activities are designed to orientate potential new members to Greek Life, our values, and what sisterhood means to them. We feel that hazing only serves to isolate and create animosity between members. We take all hazing allegations very seriously and do our best to ensure the comfort and safety of all of our organization’s women.

Diversity

Pi Alpha Gamma does not discriminate on the basis of age, height, weight, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental abilities, or political or religious beliefs.

Drugs and Alcohol

Pi Alpha Gamma Sorority has a zero tolerance policy regarding drugs. No Active Member, New Member, or Potential New Member may at any time partake in the use/abuse or be under the influence of illicit substances, including (but not limited to) marijuana, methamphetamines, or abuse of prescription medications. We do not condone underage drinking or irresponsible drinking habits and therefore do not provide liquor at Sorority events, and we encourage members to remember that they are, at all times, representing their Sorority and to act accordingly.

In addition, our sisters are required to attend an Alcohol Awareness seminar as well as an Anti-Hazing seminar. We also employ a Designated Sober Sister program to ensure all of our Members get home safe and sound.

Academics

Maintaining academic excellence in our members is a main priority of  Pi Alpha Gamma Sorority, although we only require Sisters to maintain a GPA of 2.0 All sisters must submit a copy of their transcript to the Academic Chair within the first two weeks of each semester in order to be considered in good standing with the Chapter for that semester. Failure to meet minimum GPA requirement will result in the member being put on Academic Probation. During this time, the Academic Chair and her sisters will help her to achieve her academic goals.
